Declining Reading in the Netherlands: Putting the Book Back in Focus

The reading proficiency of Dutch youth is steadily declining. This is problematic for multiple reasons. It is necessary to increase the fun in reading for these youth. An effective way to do so is by letting youngsters pick the books they want to read, instead of deciding which books are supposed to be good and which are not.
